Sewer Repair Options
We use the right method based on your specific problem.
Camera Inspection
$125-$350Waterproof camera inspection identifies exactly where the problem is and what caused it. Essential before any repair decision.
Hydro Jetting
$350-$800High-pressure water jets blast away tree roots, grease buildup, and debris. Thoroughly cleans the entire line without digging.
Trenchless Pipe Lining (CIPP)
$4,000-$10,000Epoxy resin lining hardens inside the pipe to seal cracks and reinforce damaged sections. No digging required.
Pipe Bursting
$4,500-$12,000New pipe is pulled through the old damaged line, shattering it in place. Faster alternative to traditional dig-and-replace.
Traditional Dig-and-Replace
$5,000-$15,000+Excavation and complete removal of old pipe with new pipe installation. Most expensive but often necessary for severely damaged lines.
What You Should Know About Your Sewer Line
As a homeowner, you are responsible for the sewer line from your house to the street. The city is responsible for the main sewer line under the street. This means sewer repairs on your property are your financial responsibility.
Clay pipe (pre-1970): Most homes built before 1970 have clay sewer laterals. These are prone to tree root intrusion and will eventually fail. If you own a home with a clay line, expect to replace it within the next 10-20 years unless you actively treat for roots.
Cast iron (1970s-1990s): Better than clay but will corrode and fail over time, especially in harsh water conditions. Cast iron lines last 40-60 years.
Camera inspection: Before buying an older home, have a camera inspection done. This typically costs $150-$350 but can reveal a $10,000+ sewer problem that you could negotiate with the seller or walk away from.
